A Note From The Principal

Dear MHMS Families,

There are lots of wonderful things that will take place for our Murray Hill Middle School community during the month of December.  Be sure to check the Important Dates section of the Murray Messenger to stay informed.

Today, both Reservoir High School and Atholton High School staff and students met with our 8th graders.  Be sure to ask your 8th grader about the school visit, as they learned lots of interesting facts regarding their future high school’s.

The Mixed Bag Orders are here!  The MHMS PTA will distribute items in the front hallway of MHMS on Tuesday, December 12th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, December 14th from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

SCHOOL NEWS

Cold Weather/Inclement Weather:  It seems as though winter has come to stay!  Please remember that students are offered the opportunity to go outside on a daily basis, unless the weather is at an unsafe temperature, or it is snowing or raining.  Please encourage your student to wear appropriate clothing so that they can safely enjoy their time outside.

Also, know that HCPSS will inform families of delay’s and closures via email or text messages.  I will also post delay’s and school closures on the MHMS Twitter account (@hcpss_mhms).

8th GRADE NEWS

UMBC Field Trip:  The 8th grade class has a field trip scheduled for Wednesday, January10th. We will be going to UMBC to tour and hear about life on a college campus. We will eat lunch while cheering on the UMBC Women’s Basketball team as they take on Maine.  Permission slips were sent home and are due back to Science teachers as soon as possible.  Payment is $15. Students will have to bring their own bagged lunches. If your student needs to purchase lunch from the school, please let Ms. Schaefer know by December 22nd.

Chaperones are needed so please consider coming with us. We will choose chaperones from a lottery of those adults who have signed up. Please enter the lottery by filling out the lower portion of the permission slip by December 22nd. The fee for chaperones will be shared following the lottery drawing. For any additional information, please contact Ms. Schaefer at molly_schaefer@hcpss.org
