A Note From The Principal

Dear MHMS Families,

As many of you may know, this year’s MHMS production, Willy Wonka, Jr. was dedicated to Ms. Laura Wallen, who was a former teacher at Murray Hill Middle School, and who, year after year, returned to MHMS to assist with our drama productions.

As a continued remembrance of the life of Ms. Wallen, and as a way to memorialize Ms. Wallen’s love of the theater, Mrs. Hersey, Mrs. Madhu Thibaudeau, and members of the MHMS Musical Boosters established The Laura Wallen Drama Scholarship.  This scholarship was created to send one MHMS drama student to the Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts (CCTA) 2018 Summer Junior Professional Theatre Program. This summer this group will be perform the newly released Disney musical, "Newsies." We had twelve amazingly talented drama students apply for this scholarship and are pleased to announce that the recipient of the very first Laura Wallen Drama Scholarship is awarded to 7th grader, Paige Miller!

Sincerely,

Lisa R. Smithson

Principal
