A Note From The Principal
Dear MHMS Families,
This week we had two phenomenal evening events at MHMS! Our Enrichment Fair and Art Show, held on Wednesday, showcased amazing student work. I would like to thank Mr. Dunbar and Ms. Simpson for their dedication towards facilitating a great family event. I would also like to thank our awesome PTA and parent volunteers for supporting the night with their time and donations. Also, this week our orchestra and choral students held their Spring Concert, and each performed beautifully. We are so proud of all of their accomplishments this year.
Today, our 6th and 7th grade students participated in a walk-a-thon as a part of their service learning projects for the year. All donations collected will directly benefit Grassroots of Howard County. Thank you to the parent volunteers who assisted during the walk-a-thon, and thank you to the families who supported our efforts by obtaining donations.
I would like to wish all of our families a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.

News From The Hill
NEWS FROM THE HEALTH ROOM
Medication: If your student has medications in the health room please pick them up by the end of the school day on Tuesday, June 19th. If medications are not picked up they will be destroyed.
Immunization Information: Reminder for upcoming 7th grade students: Tdap and MCV vaccinations are required. If your child has received these immunizations please send in the form so their record can be updated. If we do not have verification of immunization by the first day of school your child will be excluded.
Seasonal Allergies: Itchy watery eyes, sneezing, runny nose oh, my!!!! This year the pollen season is very strong and causing the students and us to have symptoms of allergy reaction.
What should you do to help your students and self-alleviate the symptoms of allergic reaction to the allergies of the beautiful blooming grass, trees, and flowers? When students who have these symptoms come in from outside (upon arrival, after recess, and after any outdoor PE or other activities), they should go to the bathroom with instructions to: 1. wash hands with soap and water; 2. splash water on their face; 3. take enough paper towels to dry everything; 4. use the damp paper towel to wipe down hair, ears, neck, down the arms, and down the front; 5. keep hands off of face.
The results will be a decrease in allergy symptoms and feeling more comfortable. The students can also put a wet paper towel on their eyes if still bothering them.
