Dear MHMS Families,

I hope that you are all doing well and staying healthy. The MHMS staff has enjoyed connecting with students in the Google Check-In sessions, and reviewing the online assignments that have been submitted.

Please be reminded that Google Check-In sessions take place Monday (afternoon) through Thursday.  On Monday’s students have one afternoon check-in, and Tuesday through Thursday, they have one morning and one afternoon check-in.  If you have had any difficulties logging into check-in sessions, please reach out to your child’s teacher, school counselor, or an administrator, and we will do all that we can to assist you.

Please note, that starting this week, student attendance will be monitored.  Information can be found on the HCPSS website- https://news.hcpss.org/news-posts/2020/04/attendance-during-2019-2020-continuity-of-learning/.  During Continuity of Learning, each student will have the opportunity to obtain up to 14 attendance points.  They can obtain one point, per period, for attending their Google Check-In session (for a total of up to 7 points), and they can obtain one point, per period, for completing the weekly online assignment (for a total of up to another 7 points).  Students must obtain a total of 7 out of the 14 possible attendance points, in order to be marked as present for the week.  Weekly attendance will be entered, by our secretary, Ms. Robinson, at the beginning of each week, for the week previous (i.e. the weekly attendance for the week of April 27th, will be entered at the beginning of the week of May 4th).

Please note that attendance points will not be visible in Canvas.  They are not a part of the Continuity of Learning category in Canvas.  Ms. Robinson has received training to effectively track and calculate attendance points, in order to do the weekly attendance.  Also know that our student services team will follow up with students who have not demonstrated engagement in learning through attending check-in’s and/or completing weekly online assignments.  

We thank you for supporting your student in attending the check-in sessions and completing their weekly online assignments, and again feel free to reach out to staff for assistance, as needed; staff hours are 8:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., and they will do their best to connect with you in a timely fashion, within 48 hours.
