A Note From The Principal

Dear MHMS Families,

As we enter our second week of school closure, I wanted to reach out to thank you for your support and patience during this challenging time. The uncertainty and disruption caused by COVID-19 is taking a toll on everyone, and maintaining solidarity is one of our best defenses in coping with this and other stressful situations. I cherish the community spirit that continues to be among Murray Hill Middle School’s greatest strengths.

Accessing reliable, comprehensive and easy-to-locate information is a valuable strategy for managing the impact of this situation. The daily updates that you’ve received from the Superintendent over the last several days provide a great deal of information and resources. You can quickly locate all of this information on the HCPSS COVID-19 webpage. Please check back regularly, as the site is continually updated with new information and answers to frequently asked questions.

I want to recognize HCPSS staff members who have been putting in long hours during this closure to follow the state’s direction to begin cleaning our school facilities, as well as the staff preparing for the possibility of an extended closure by developing plans for continuity of instruction for our students. We also have staff who have been a part of our emergency response, helping to make critical decisions and then effectively communicating with our staff, families and community.

I miss seeing our children each day, and I’m looking forward to the day when we can welcome them back to our classrooms. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to email me at any time with your questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Lisa R. Smithson

Principal
