NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

This is our final message of the 2024–2025 school year, and we have so much to celebrate!

We begin by congratulating our very own Ms. Jacqueline Myers, mathematics teacher at both Lime Kiln and Murray Hill Middle School, on being selected as the 2025 Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) Beginning Mathematics Teacher of the Year!

This prestigious recognition is a testament to Ms. Myers’ dedication, talent, and impact in the classroom. We are incredibly proud to have her as a member of the MHMS community. She will be formally honored at the 2025 MCTM Outstanding Educator Awards Banquet this October.

Today, we also celebrated another milestone for our school — the promotion of 206 eighth graders! We are so proud of each of these students and deeply grateful to the parents and guardians who have partnered with us over the past three years to support their success.

Additionally, we’re seeing positive trends in our school data this year:

  • Overall suspensions are down by 31%
  • Discipline referrals have decreased by 15%
  • MAP English Language Arts scores have increased by approximately 6.1%

I am looking forward to continuing this important work and strengthening our partnership with the MHMS community to ensure the continued growth and success of our students.

As we head into the weekend, I also want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate all the fathers and father figures in our school community. Thank you for the support, guidance, and positive impact you have on the lives of our students. Wishing you a Happy Father’s Day!

Wishing everyone a restful and joyful summer!

In partnership,

Dr. Tammy Jones
